Script and German localisation for Shopify

Script and localization, shopify

I was brought on board to localise copy from English into German for a large-scale ad production for Shopify and from there brought into the production itself as the on-set localisation expert directing the talen and carried through quality control through post-production to going live. I loved working with this fantastic team and the final product is friendly, conversational and works across all regional German accents.

What the client says:

"Working with Alex is always an absolute pleasure. She is brilliant, communicative, thorough, and a true creative. Her versatility, flexibility and fairness made collaboration on a recent large-scale localization project seamless and we loved every moment of working with her."
– Shannon Hayward, Production Manager Growth, Shopify

film concept and script, Ottobock

Ottobock is a globally celebrated producer of high-quality prosthetics, and their new Genium X4 knee is a revolutionary product for above-the-knee amputees. Showing each of our six talent’s individual benefits was really key to understanding this product, as well as the unique challenges of living with a prosthetic limb I hadn’t ever thought of. I created the campaign slogan, storyboards and scripts for six individual user stories films (some in German and English) as well as an overall film script showing all six users in their natural environments.

Tone of Voice, vaay

I was commissioned by YummyColours to create a German TOV to accompany vaay’s bright new rebrand and create a useable, hands-on toolkit for their language. Under the guiding principle of their new slogan, Color Outside the Lines, I created a bold, eclectic and vibrant tone that works across different formats and occassions, dialling into different pillars of tonality. The result packs a punch and sets vaay up as a CBD frontrunner with cultural significance.

What the client says:
"YummyColours accompanied vaay into a new era for the brand giving the a bigger creative platform beyond product. Alexandra captured the essence of our creative work for the brand translating into a very comprehensive, witty, and smart tone of voice. Her ability to adapt the writing to the vibe of the brand is a testament to the flexibility and inventiveness she can bring to the table."
– Diego Marini, Co-Founder & Creative Director, Yummy Colours

Localisation and translation, Pink Gellac

Pink Gellac is a B-Corp certified Dutch gel nail polish company I was able to create the complete German website translation and localisation for. Speaking to their audience and learning the beauty lingo were key to bring their joyful and empowering message to life in the German language. We worked together on a weekly basis and streamlined our process with AI translations of consumer-facing copy, which I humanised and brought consistent terminology, grammar and tonality to.

Wolf&Tiger’s first practice in Friedenau, Berlin

Website copy, Wolf & Tiger

A veterinary clinic that’s designed for pets as well as their owners – with a start-up mindset and technology to match. I wrote the copy in German for Wolf&Tiger.de which works both as an onsite practicing clinic, as well as a company site offering ready-made vet practices for vets looking to open their own practices all over Germany. Adding in dashes of humour, puns and heartfelt love for animals helped bridge the gap between an old-school industry and this fresh new take.

Wolf&Tiger won the German Design Award in the category branding in 2024.

OOH Ad campaign, free2move

I concepted and wrote copy for a Berlin-wide advertising campaign showcasing how carsharing with Free2Move saves users from somewhat unpleasant everyday situations such as bad dates, sweaty commuter trains and freezing-cold Berlin bus stops.
